Some background on the name of this website...
A20 Gate n.
- A switch on the 21st address line (A20) of IBM PC/AT compatibles that, when closed, makes memory addresses wrap around at 1 MB, just as they did on the 8086. Famously operated through the keyboard controller.
- Anything kept alive long after its purpose has passed, purely so that nothing breaks.
- This website.
Origin: IBM, 1984. Dropped by Intel in the 2010s, outlived by its legend.
